The best wine event you can stage is a Jeremy Oliver event.

Wine connects people and Jeremy is Australia’s leading wine host and presenter. He has hosted hugely popular wine events over the world.

Here’s how it works. You begin by considering these questions:

  1. Who is your audience?
  2. How many people are ideal?
  3. Is there a special message or theme for the event?
  4. Where would you like to stage it – in-house or at a restaurant?
  5. Is it a stand-up cocktail event, a formal seated wine tasting or a dinner?
  6. What is your budget per head for food and wine?

Once you’re clear on these points – and Jeremy can assist with any of them –  it’s time to work closely with him to work out these details:

  1. Do you want to link the event with a cultural or sporting theme, such as The Ashes, the Bledisloe Cup, The Tour de France, a concert or a gallery opening?
  2. What is the wine theme?
  3. How many wines should you serve?
  4. How many courses (or canapes for stand-up events) are ideal?

After this, you can then relax, for Jeremy then works with the chef, organiser or venue to complete the remaining tasks:

  1. The finished menu and venue budget
  2. Choosing an incredible list of wines
  3. Sourcing the wines on budget
  4. Proofing the menu before print (if required)
  5. Briefing the venue on timings
  6. Briefing the service staff prior to the event

At the event, you can do as much – or as little – as you like. Jeremy can take care of it all, from being the MC to the wine host or special guest. Jeremy will, if and as required:

  1. Welcome guests
  2. Introduce hosts
  3. Introduce event theme
  4. Explains wines and tells their stories
  5. Deliver a speech (if needed, and on any reasonable theme)
  6. Answer all questions
  7. Perform all the concluding formalities and thanks

And then, a day or so after the event, Jeremy will:

  1. Check in with you to see if you and the guests were happy
  2. Email a bespoke list of the wines, tasting notes plus pricing and availability details (including special phone numbers if needed) to ensure guests are able to source the wines they enjoyed. This provides you with the perfect follow-up to the event.

While Jeremy is very good at this kind of thing and enjoys it hugely, it’s what he does for a living. So there is a fee for his work. Depending on a range of factors, that fee is between $3,500 and $5,000 plus GST in Australia.
